Attractions near Downtown Vancouver
The downtown Vancouver area has many fun attractions that make it easy to plan a fun filled day. In fact, there are so many attractions to visit that it's hard to decide where to start! Here is a brief look at some of the more popular attractions that many tourists seem to enjoy that might make deciding where to go a bit easier.
One place that you must visit is the Vancouver Aquarium (845 Avison Way).
It is open each day from 9:30 AM to 7:00 PM. It features over 300 species of fish, over 55 different types of amphibians and reptiles and at least 20 different bird species. Visitors will enjoy seeing these fauna in their native habitats that have been lovingly constructed in 12 exhibit halls. Children will especially enjoy seeing the sharks, whales and other marine mammals on display too.
Another place that you just have to see is Queen Elizabeth Park (4600 Cambie Street).
Long regarded as one of Canada's most beautiful parks, the Queen Elizabeth Park sits on 160 acres of pristine gardens and beautifully landscaped grounds. There are so many things to do here that it's hard to pick just two or three to talk about. However, visitors might especially enjoy walking through the many walking paths that lead visitors on a tour of the area's arboretum and rose gardens.
Furthermore, visitors might also enjoy watching one of the live theater or concert events that take place here regularly. These events include a summer concert series, "Shakespeare in the Park" and many more.
Finally, visitors will also enjoy going to the Vancouver Lookout Tower for a great panoramic view of the city.
It's located at 555 West Hastings Street near Vancouver's harbor. It features office space, shops, lounges hotels, Simon Fraser University and glass elevators that can take you to the top of the tower.
